Global Key Client Lead

Job Introduction

The Global Key Client Lead will work with the Head of Business Development, Business Partner for Insurance and Business Partner for International to drive the firm's strategy to create sustainable value by developing and acquiring business and pursuing profitable growth. 

Working closely with business leaders, and wider sector teams, the role will drive business development through a global key account management programme with a focus on insurance, working with identified Client Relationship Partners (CRPs) and wider global CRM teams. 

This role is a senior role in the Business Development team and will also be market-facing, developing networks and creating opportunities.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Work with the Head of Business Development and Business Partners for Insurance and International to expand our Global Key Account Programme with focus on the insurance sector.

  • Work closely with the Business Development (BD) team and Client Relationship Partners (CRPs) on the development of our key global client relationships, helping identify strategic global accounts with opportunities to grow and develop our insurance offer.

  • Develop and implement client plans and identify market opportunities, working with legal teams to develop and sell new products/services, driving revenue generation from agreed clients and targets.

  • Analyse key client and prospect data and facilitate dashboard reporting for key stakeholders at a firmwide and sector level.

  • Manage a portfolio of Global Key Accounts for Insurance and facilitate client development workshops to identify opportunities and drive growth.

  • Share and embed best practice and ideas with our BD team and Partners to enhance our reputation in identified markets and jurisdictions.

  • Engage with key clients and prospects on a regular basis to understand market trends, you will help to identify new opportunities and build strategic relationships.

  • Plan and attend client relationship meetings with CRPs, when appropriate.

  • Provide BD & sales coaching to CRPs and CRM teams, working closely with our Client Engagement Manager.

  • Develop and share sales and business development tools using the 'DACB Client Hub' to enable client conversations, and promote the cross selling of key products and services.

  • Work with the Client Listening team to ensure that we are actively seeking feedback from clients through all appropriate channels and acting upon the feedback accordingly.

  • Promote the effective use of our CRM database to support the management and growth of client accounts through sales pipeline tracking.

  • Build an internal and external network to share market insight and client intelligence.

  • Work with the Marketing team to support campaign driven activity, promotion of new products, and ensure alignment with client need.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of the sales and business development training programme, liaising with the Learning & Development Team to review content, analyse feedback, and drive change.


Key Technical / Knowledge:

  • Significant experience of working in the professional services sector and/or selling legal services, especially in the global insurance market 

  • Significant experience of developing relationships with potential and existing clients

  • Proven track record of operating at a senior level and handling strategically significant BD initiatives and/or opportunities

  • Proven experience of managing global client accounts, developing client plans and client growth strategies 

  • Market-facing/client development experience essential

  • Strong understanding of the market and its influencers and a track record of using this knowledge to generate growth opportunities

  • Strong writing skills and the ability to adapt style to different audiences and channels

  • Highly credible with the ability to influence, challenge and coach senior stakeholders, and to build strong relationships with all levels of lawyers

  • Experience of mentoring, coaching and developing BD colleagues

  • Strong networking skills - ability to connect the right people to opportunities

  • Experience in implementing change programmes

  • Experience in delivering business development training

  • Highly pro-active, self-motivated, resourceful

  • Strong project management experience and proven / strong track record of creating and delivering complex projects with the ability to manage to tight deadlines

  • Strong thirst for technical knowledge and application of knowledge to generate ideas

  • Proven experience of implementing best practice and initiatives for continuous improvement

  • High levels of numeracy and strong ability to analyse information, including data manipulation

  • Proven ability to work as a part of a team and also work autonomously

  • Works successfully in virtual teams
