Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive - Travel & Tourism

Job Introduction

Travel and Tourism are looking to recruit in England and Wales

 

The team specialise in work with a foreign element which can be anything from a road accident in England,  where we represent the insurer of a foreign driver through to representing hoteliers and their insurers defending catastrophic injury claims arising from accidents abroad.

 

The work is interesting and extremely varied.  We work with several different clients, however what they all have in common is that they value our specialist knowledge - so we are looking for someone that has a genuine interest and some experience in this area.

 

We often work with individuals, Insurers, lawyers and experts in other jurisdictions particularly Spain, France and Eastern Europe so a second language would be preferred but not essential.

Role Responsibility

  • Maintain a case load of complex cross border litigated claims in strict adherence to the Service Level Agreement(s) entered into with the insurer client.
  • Be responsible for managing all financial aspects of their caseload, to include billing in strict adherence to the Service Level Agreement(s) entered into with the insurer client, managing WIP, debt and resolving general accounting queries.
  • Day to day responsibilities will include but is not limited to the following: - Analysis of evidence and setting case strategies encompassing both technical and commercial considerations, obtaining and drafting pleadings, witness statements and letters of response, conducting (telephone) negotiation of claims, preparing detailed counter schedules, sound file management – to include consistent and accurate: billing; management of WIP and file closures; updating Management Information.
  • Participate in marketing and client training events where necessary

The Ideal Candidate

We don’t expect you to know everything!  The right candidate is someone with very strong litigation skills with multi-track experience, you must be able to progress cases with only light touch supervision.  Specialist training will be given, but the successful  candidate must be prepared to take the time to build specialist technical knowledge in this area.

 

In addition the role will be very client facing, we have a portfolio of clients in Scotland where we need to spend time refreshing and building relationships, so the successful applicant will be someone who is happy to engage in business development and marketing as well as managing relationships from a Scotland perspective.
