Software Architect (6 month FTC) - Bristol

Job Introduction

DACBeachcroft is looking for a Software Architect to join our IT Business Solutions team on a 6 month fixed term contract (FTC).

Reporting to the Head of IT Business Solutions, the role will facilitate the implementation of the technical strategy and vision of the IT Business Solutions Team, ensuring overall alignment with the IT Strategy.

Role Responsibility

  • Guide developers to develop solutions using the right technologies and patterns to fit with the overall IT strategy, maximise re-use of existing components and minimise maintenance and ongoing development effort.
  • Help shape IT Business Solutions strategy by identifying and evaluating new technologies to adopt as well as facilitating the phasing out of existing technologies that are surplus to requirements.
  • Promote the re-use of common components wherever possible, e.g. API’s, Business Solutions .NET Template, error reporting etc.
  • Undertake prototyping or development of such components or templates where applicable
  • Ensure developers are conforming with coding and development standards and compliance with the IT Business Solutions Quality Management Systems Policies and Processes.
  • Ensure technical guidance materials are maintained and promoted through leadership activities such as workshops and training.
  • Collaborate with developers to produce a high-level designs for all new applications. This will outline the tools, technologies and design patterns to be used and will ensure consistency.
  • Evaluate and identify new tools: identify or develop examples, prototypes and guidance to which developers can refer when implementing them
  • Production of materials promoting the capabilities of the IT Business Solutions team outlining approach to software and tools in order to provide context to senior management around the application of best practice within the software development sector.
  • Facilitating the planning and migration of existing on-premise applications to Microsoft Azure platform services.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have significant hands on experience of developing full stack code in C# and/or .Net, including development of microservice-based applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of UML and other modelling methods
  • Broad experience architecting software solutions using DevOps toolsets.
  • Have demonstrable experience in hosting software in Microsoft Azure.
  • Good knowledge of hybrid and cloud native architectures
  • Experience operating in Agile (Scrum) environments.
  • Possess a strong security and data privacy-oriented mindset, aware of secure coding techniques and best practice.
  • Understanding of software quality assurance principles
  • A technical mindset with great attention to detail
  • High quality organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities
