Real Estate Litigation - Paralegal, Glasgow

Job Introduction

This position is for a paralegal role forming part of the Portfolio Management real estate team, a national team of paralegals that support the real estate team across the UK.

The role will be geared towards Scottish real estate litigation work in the telecoms sector, primarily supporting our Scottish property litigation team on running large-scale projects, dealing with the majority of day to day asset management work.  There will also be the opportunity to work within the wider English real estate teams across the country on cross-border instructions and nationwide projects.

Our Scottish real estate teams cover every aspect of transactional and contentious commercial real estate work, particularly telecoms, development, investment, asset management, construction and landlord/tenant work.  Clients include telecoms operators, property management and development companies, house builders, health trusts and government bodies (local and central), owner-occupiers and institutions, both in the UK and overseas.  We also provide cross-departmental and cross-jurisdictional support to the wider firm.

The team also has a proven recorded in paralegal progression. We very much value and see our Portfolio Management team as our “incubation hub” for future talent and have, in the last 12 months alone, seen 4 former paralegals formally qualify as solicitors with the assistance of professional development funding and mentoring from within the team and wider group.

Role Responsibility

The work expected of the role will likely involve dealing with landlord/tenant contentious asset management work in the telecoms sector (including reviewing lease packets, drafting notices and assisting with Court or Tribunal applications), as well as handling a varied caseload of matters and client reporting with an appropriate level of supervision.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in Scottish Commercial Property is not essential but would be advantageous.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage tasks within timescales is important as the candidate will be expected to help with running high-volume projects and keep on top of a varied caseload with support from team members.
  • Excellent attention to detail with an ability to produce work to a high standard.
  • IT literate with working knowledge of Word and Excel. Knowledge/ previous experience of case management systems would be an advantage but training will be provided. Good keyboard skills are also essential.
  • Must be flexible and self-motivated team player who is able to respect and support others within the team to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to communicate confidently both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise and friendly manner.
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet required deadlines.

Personal Skills:

  • Confident with an ability to build strong relationships with clients (internal and external) and third party contacts at all levels.
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise own workload effectively and manage conflicting priorities. Seek guidance and input where appropriate/needed.
  • Team oriented, enthusiastic and committed.
