Property Litigation Solicitor/Associate (2-5+ PQE)- Leeds or Manchester

Job Introduction

Our National Real Estate Team covers every aspect of commercial real estate work including planning and environmental, development, investment, asset management, funding, construction, landlord and tenant and dispute resolution. Clients include shopping centre landlords, property management and development companies, health trusts and government bodies (local and central), owner occupiers and institutions, both in the UK and overseas.

This role will be based in either Leeds or Manchester and will be part of the national Real Estate litigation team. The national litigation team currently consists of 4 partners, 1 consultant, 4 senior associates, 1 Associate, 2 solicitors and 3 paralegals.

Role Responsibility

The successful candidate will regularly handle and assist with the following:

  • Service of break notices and advice on their validity and conditionality
  • Dealing with lease renewal/termination notices and proceedings under the 1954 Act
  • Advice on status of occupation after lease expiry
  • Arrears recovery
  • Obtaining possession of commercial premises
  • Service charge disputes
  • Dilapidations
  • Telecommunications

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in commercial landlord and tenant disputes is preferable but not essential. Candidates with a strong background in commercial and civil litigation (and looking to move into Prop Lit) will be given serious consideration.
  • Be used to delivering commercial advice to clients who do not have time to read lengthy correspondence. They should be comfortable with key date and tracker maintenance.
  • Have handled a varied workload in accordance with client protocols and with an appropriate level of supervision.
  • Exercise full compliance with DAC Beachcroft protocols on billing and credit control and demonstrate a high level of financial management in respect of own files.
  • Support marketing and business development activity within the team e.g. article writing, attending marketing events and client training.
