This role is to work as part of the Portfolio Management team, which is a well-established national team of junior fee-earners who support our national Real Estate group.
Our Real Estate group covers every aspect of commercial real estate work including, development, investment, asset management, funding, construction, landlord and tenant, planning and environmental and dispute resolution. Clients include property management and development companies, health trusts and government bodies (local and central), owner occupiers and institutions, both in the UK and overseas.
The team also has a proven recorded in paralegal progression. We very much value our Paralegals, and see them as an “incubation hub” for future talent and have in the last 12 months alone, seen 4 former paralegals formally qualify as solicitors with the assistance of professional development funding and mentoring from within the team and wider group.
Main Responsibilities
The Paralegal opportunity is an extremely varied role which see you work across litigation and transactional work. Joining a very busy team, from day one you will have the opportunity to own your own files and interact with clients.
Our Litigation team is a market leader, particularly in the Telecomms space, being the only team working with all four mobile providers. You will also have exposure to clients in other sectors such as retail etc. This will give you the opportunity to work on extremely complex, interesting cases across the full lifecycle of litigation.
As a Paralegal, your work will include a huge variety of tasks including:
- Helping with work across pre-litigation work.
- Supporting with tribunals in County and High Court proceedings.
- Commercial debt recovery and distressed tenants.
- Preparing and issuing tort notices.
- The preparation of title and lease reports, break notices, lease and other L&T documentation drafting and negotiation.
- General assistance to fee earners on a variety of client matters and general support.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- Excellent academics including a 2.1 degree or better.
- At least 6 months in a similar Litigation or Real Estate focussed Paralegal role
- A genuine interest in the law and property.
- Excellent attention to detail, and strong communication skills (written and verbal) with an ability to produce work to a high standard.
- Confident with an ability to build strong relationships with clients (internal and external) and third party contacts at all levels.
- Must be flexible, organised, and self-motivated team player who is able to work within the team to achieve common goals.
- Must be able to work under pressure to meet required deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience in Telecomms Real Estate would be advantageous
