Paralegal - Casualty Injury - Belfast

Job Introduction

The Claims Solutions Group - Casualty team in Belfast provides advice and claims management to the insurance industry. 

We are now accepting applications from paralegals looking to join a supportive team and ambitious firm.

Role Responsibility

  • Claims handling a variety of litigated and pre-litigated casualty injury files.
  • Assisting on claims for other fee earners in the wider Belfast team, including carrying out preliminary investigations and evidence gathering; obtaining witness statements; and contacting relevant parties to obtain contractual and other relevant documentation; reviewing medical records.
  • Ensuring that the case management system files are updated with diary dates as required by the case.
  • Developing your knowledge of litigation tactics and a sound working knowledge of the Northern Ireland Court Rules.
  • Assuming responsibility for client protocol compliance both on own files and where working on task-based assignments.
  • Handling confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols
  • Meeting and exceeding internal targets for time recording and billing.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A degree in Law (LLB or equivalent).
  • Minimum 1 year casualty injury paralegal experience.
  • Knowledge of the litigation process in Northern Ireland.
  • Be interested in and have a good working knowledge of disease principles.
  • Be IT-literate, with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office and previous knowledge or experience of a case management system.
  • Be interested in and willing to develop your knowledge of the technical aspects of disease as required for the role.
  • Be change-orientated, with a positive, flexible approach towards the implementation of new initiatives.
  • Have a willingness to follow a process-driven system, working within set parameters.
  • Be team-orientated, with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the disease and wider Belfast team.
  • Have an ability to adopt a commercial perspective.
