Paralegal Apprentice - EPI

Job Introduction

You will quickly learn how to work on live legal matters. You won’t be thrown in at the deep end; your training will be carefully planned and you will work in a supportive team environment but will be doing a real job and contributing to the DAC Beachcroft business.

As a paralegal apprentice in our Employment, Pensions and Immigration Group you can expect to be assisting lawyers with their caseload. As your experience grows, with close supervision, you will also have the opportunity to attend various types of hearings and have contact with clients. Some of the typical tasks you can expect to be involved with include:

  • Preparation and collation of correspondence and reports
  • Organising litigation disclosure and hearing bundles
  • Conducting legal and business research
  • Reporting on case law developments
  • Attending Tribunal and Court hearings
  • Assisting with searches
  • Compiling responses to 'data subject access requests'
  • General administration duties such as maintaining an effective filing system

Role Responsibility

The London Employment, Pensions and Immigration Group is a vibrant, busy and thriving practice comprising some 30 lawyers and 5 support staff. The team acts primarily for major corporate employers, including global financial institutions, insurers and blue chip multinationals. Typical work includes:

Advising on complex and major projects including reorganisations and business transfers

Regularly with an international dimension

Managing high value litigation in the Employment Tribunal and the High Court

Providing specialist guidance on complex matters including business immigration, data protection, equal pay and employee competition.
 

The team also acts for major NHS organisations and other public sector bodies, advising on significant and strategically important issues, including the handling of whistleblowing cases and disciplinary and capability issues involving doctors. Typical tasks include:

  • Liaising with clients and others
  • Drafting documents
  • Preparation and collation of correspondence
  • Legal research
  • Preparing transaction bibles
