As a Paralegal Apprentice with DAC Beachcroft you will be on your way to a career in law and have a real alternative to university; you will earn a salary and have no university fees to pay.

Role Responsibility

The Professional and Commercial Risk North team comprises approximately 65 people across 4 locations in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh. The role is for a paralegal apprentice to support the  Leeds team which  comprises 3 partners, one legal director, 9 solicitors, 1 trainee solicitor and 1 paralegal.  Typical tasks include (1) supporting  fee-earners in managing a mixed workload of professional negligence claims against a variety of professionals including but not limited to solicitors, accountants, insurance brokers and construction professionals  in accordance with client protocols: (2) carrying out research tasks, particularly in relation to technical legal and procedural issues: (3) assisting fee-earners in the course of litigated proceedings, particularly with document handling, disclosure and  case management: (4) exercise full compliance with DAC Beachcroft protocols on billing and credit control and demonstrate a high level of financial management when supporting others in managing files and in relation to own files, where appropriate.

Additionally, you will have the equivalent of 20% of your weekly contracted hours to use towards your study, in order to focus on the educational side of your apprenticeship. This will include a mixture of interactive webinars and face to face study sessions. This apprenticeship will give you an excellent start to your career in law, to provide you with a foundation that could lead to higher level qualifications upon completion of your apprenticeship.

As a Paralegal Apprentice with BPP, you will complete the Paralegal Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. Additional learning within the apprenticeship will enable you to be awarded a Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Legal Services which can afford you exemptions from the first year of the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship (providing Contract Law was chosen as the elective module). 
Your apprenticeship shall be delivered by a blend of online and face-to-face training from BPP University Law School and on-the-job learning.
