PR and Communications Executive

Job Introduction

This role presents an exciting opportunity to take on an important role with respect to PR and communications for an international law firm.  The successful candidate will support in delivering PR and communications campaigns in-line with best practice principles to raise the profile of the firm and its lawyers.  Reporting into the Senior PR and Communications Manager and based in the firm’s Bristol office, with the ability to take advantage of the firm’s agile working approach, Flex Forward.

Role Responsibility

  • Support on the development and the implementation of comms campaigns to raise the profile of the firm and its lawyers
  • Build effective relationships with key stakeholders across the business
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the fundamentals of profile raising and media relations. This includes: produce first drafts of press releases, build effective relationships with journalists, develop and place stories in the press, draft pitches for journalists, edit articles prior to submission to publications, draft and edit press commentary, arrange interviews and press meetings, develop media lists and advise on suitable media targets
  • Provide press office support and act as the first port-of-call for media enquiries, working with a Comms Manager where necessary to respond to media requests
  • Assist with tracking mentions of the firm in the press and help produce reports and analysis on the firm’s media and comms activities
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of social media channels and take an active role in sourcing and creating original and engaging content for the firm's social media accounts 
  • Support on the implementation of the firm’s Digital Strategy, driving forward best practice approaches in the use of podcasts, video and other digital assets
  • Assist in identifying content for awards submissions and draft submissions

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have previous comms/PR experience, ideally within a service delivery and team environment
  • Be resilient, highly organised, able to effectively prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal 
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Be attentive and use calls and meetings with stakeholders as an opportunity to gain a good understanding of key sector messaging as well as planned timings for upcoming BD and marketing campaigns while also developing internal relationships
  • Be able to quickly develop a good understanding of the firm's language style
  • Have the ability to deal effectively with complex subject matter
  • Be trustworthy with sensitive and confidential information
  • Have a willingness to expand knowledge through keeping up to date with legal media stories and taking advantage of L&D opportunities
  • Have the aptitude and ability to shift priorities and tasks in response to business needs
  • Proactively share information, skills, knowledge and ideas with others
  • Be degree educated or equivalent
