Operational Excellence Manager

Job Introduction

Leading the Operational Excellence team delivering a gateway for all projects / initiatives across the business, preparing Project Mandates / Business Cases for selection by the business whilst acting as a centre of excellence for Operational Excellence activities in relation to process improvement and, business change management.  

Daily activities including managing the teams workloads, priorities, and allocating resources, to ensure the teams objectives are met, whilst also being the principal consultant on process improvement work.

Role Responsibility

  • Collation of opportunities arising from Innovation Lab, Knowledge and Innovation Management and other business improvement opportunities identified across DAC Beachcroft into Project Mandates
  • Providing a single point of entry for DAC Project Delivery Function
  • Providing high level estimates of time and cost to requesters / BIC Steering Committee
  • Progression of project mandates into fully approved business cases
  • Attending the BIC Steering Committee as required
  • Participating in the development and implementation of appropriate governance standards and programme / project management methodologies to support the Business Improvement and Change Department
  • Line management of the Operational Excellence team, 121’s, appraisal and mentoring where appropriate
  • Development of Operation Excellence team skill sets
  • Identifying and driving ongoing improvements within the Operational Excellence team
  • Providing metrics to enable measurement of Op Ex Function

The Ideal Candidate

  • A proven track record of successful programme and project delivery
  • A thorough understanding and substantial practical experience of:

- PRINCE 2 (Practitioner accreditation essential).

- Managing Successful Programmes (MSP accreditation desirable).

- Ability to multi-task and to organise self, team and others in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

- Effective inter-personal, communication and influencing skills.

- Showing leadership, taking responsibility, able to prioritise and act decisively 

- Business Change programmes and change management capability

- Process Improvement through use of Six Sigma, Lean Management methodologies

- Leading teams through periods of Cultural Change

  • A broad understanding of business drivers across multiple business functions
  • Previous experience gained working within a law firm is desirable but not essential.
