Non- Contentious Construction and Engineering (0-5+ PQE) Solicitor/Associate - Bristol, Newcastle or London

Job Introduction

The non-contentious construction and engineering service line provide expert legal advice to a variety of clients in different sectors who are involved in construction and engineering projects. The team operates on a national and international platform, providing advice to clients on route to market, procurement choices, drafting, negotiating and settling contracts and then ongoing operational support once projects reach the delivery phase..

Our team are empowered and supported to develop their own client contacts and client relationships from the start of their careers and these relationships will not only help the successful candidate to grow and develop legally but also commercially as they will be able to see how their contribution directly impacts on clients and understand how the service provided helps clients .  We are very proud of our client base and we work very hard to support them and help them to grow and fulfil their aims and objectives. 

Role Responsibility

The firm has specialist non-contentious construction teams in Newcastle, London, and Bristol. The team consists of dedicated and experienced commercial contract lawyers specialising in the construction and engineering industry.

We stand out for delivering bespoke solutions – high quality advice delivered in sophisticated, customised and creative ways. Our relentless determination to deliver a bespoke service means each client receives what they value most – expert advice, tailored to their specific needs.

The team has an enviable list of clients, has built up an excellent reputation and is highly ranked in the legal directories. The firm is on national panels with a number of top name residential developers and also acts for local and national private developers, large national and international corporates, contractors, construction professionals, the NHS and private health and social care providers, central government departments, local authorities, education sector institutions, clients in the energy and infrastructure sector and development finance providers and investment funds.  This diverse range of clients provides a varied and sustainable pipeline of work.

We advise on the full life-cycle of a construction, engineering or infrastructure project including:

  • Design Consultant and Professional Consultant Appointments;
  • Framework Agreements;
  • Pre-Construction Service Agreement and Building contracts
  • Engineering contracts for renewable energy, process plant, infrastructure, utilities and transport;
  • The construction aspects involved in funding agreements, development agreements, sale and purchase agreements, collaboration agreements and agreements for lease and the interface between these documents;
  • Operation and maintenance contracts, property and facilities management contracts;
  • Ancillary documents associated with construction and engineering projects, such as collateral warranties/third party rights, bonds, guarantees, novation agreements, assignments, vesting agreements, letters of intent and reliance letters.

The Ideal Candidate

We are open minded about the qualification level of the candidates we see - we are most interested in what you think you can bring to the role and the team, and whether we are the right fit for you. 

We are therefore looking for those with experience of non- contentious Construction and Engineering ranging ideally from 1-5+ PQE.

We are however open to considering those with more with experience (i.e. 5+ PQE) as well.
