Legal Secretary

Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting for a part time Legal Secretary to work afternoons, 5 days a week in our Leeds office. 

Working as part of a team, you will be required to provide an excellent standard of secretarial support to the Healthcare Regulatory team.  You will also be required to provide support across other practice groups as and when required. 

Previous legal experience is essential, experience of working in clinical negligence or health advice is desirable. 

The working hours for this role are 18 hours per week, with some flexibility to which days/times are worked

Role Responsibility

  • Prepare correspondence and documents from digital dictation
  • Prepare document bundles
  • Prepare and create client reports
  • File correspondence and relevant documentation retained in client files
  • Manage the case management system
  • Manage billing on behalf of the fee earner, including dealing with accounts and matter information queries
  • Manage diaries for fee earners and book in day to day appointments
  • Manage and book travel arrangements
  • File opening
  • Maintain a level of knowledge required for the role both individually and for the team
  • Help maintain a clean office and clear desk
  • Handle confidential information in line with the firms data security protocols
  • Deal with telephone enquiries in a professional manner

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous legal secretarial experience essential.  Experience of working in clinical negligence or health advice would be beneficial. 
  • Qualified to a minimum of 5 GCSEs (including a grade C in English and Maths) or equivalent
  • A secretarial NVQ / Diploma or equivalent would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Must have good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft packages
  • An excellent eye for detail with a concern for quality and accuracy
  • A focused client service approach
  • Team oriented and collaborative with a flexible, can do attitude
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
  • Demonstrable ability to multitask and prioritise a full workload under pressure and the ability to work independently
