LLP - Solicitor (0-2 PQE) Professional Indemnity/Construction - Glasgow

Job Introduction

We are looking to recruit a Solicitor, 0-2 years PQE, into our Professional and Commercial Risk Team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be working directly alongside a Partner and Senior Associate and will play an active role in the continued growth and success of the team, in collaboration with our wider national practice.

Role Responsibility

The successful candidate will have an exciting opportunity to form part of our expanding, prestigious and highly ambitious Professional & Commercial Risk team.  The team works with specialist professional risk teams across the country, principally in the defence of complex and high value claims against professionals.

The successful candidate will focus on claims against professionals such as architects, engineers and design and build contractors arising from the full range of construction activities. They will have a solid grounding in Sheriff Court and Court of Session procedure, be driven and eager to learn. Previous experience of construction or insurance is desirable but not essential.

Although the suitable candidate would ideally be based in Glasgow, we are open to considering candidates in Edinburgh on the basis that there is an expectation that they would travel to Glasgow as required.

Flexible working available, not fully remote.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Solicitor with experience of professional indemnity claims and/or contentious construction and engineering issues.  
  • Our preferred level for this role would be between 0-2 PQE.
  • Able to demonstrate drafting and advocacy skills in the Sheriff Court.
  • Very good relationship and client handling skills, commensurate with experience.
  • Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day to day issues. Able to demonstrate a good level of self-sufficiency, combined with an awareness of the boundaries of own competence/authority.
  • Change oriented with a positive, flexible approach towards the implementation of new initiatives.
  • Team oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
  • Willingness to work hard as part of a highly ambitious and driven team to help it continue to develop and to achieve its objectives.
