LLP - Solicitor - Dispute Resolution

Job Introduction

The Bristol Commercial Dispute Resolution team acts for in-house legal departments, corporate clients, private individuals and insurers across a broad range of sectors. The team has a particular focus on the financial services industry and is ranked as Tier 1 in the Legal 500 rankings, with a number of highly regarded and recognised leading individuals heading the team.

The team handles a wide variety of commercial litigation work, with a financial services litigation specialism, and regularly acts in complex criminal and financial regulatory cases including investigations and prosecutions brought by HMRC, the CPS, the SFO, FCA and the Insolvency Service. They also advise corporate, public and regulatory bodies on internal investigations as well as systems and controls to ensure compliance with criminal and regulatory obligations. 

The work is high-value, often international in nature and the our focus is always on achieving the best outcome possible for the client. The team's revenue has increased substantially in recent years and continues to expand, hence this additional recruitment.

Role Responsibility

We are looking for someone with the ability to advise our corporate and public sector clients in white collar, general crime and regulatory litigation. You will assist our clients in avoiding unknowingly perpetrating, or becoming the victim of, white collar crime as well as to act on behalf of our clients in a diverse range of criminal and regulatory proceedings.  

As well as supporting Partners in larger matters as well as managing your own caseload, you will act as a point of contact for clients while demonstrating a level of knowledge and skill commensurate with experience.

You will exercise full compliance with DAC Beachcroft protocols on billing and credit control and demonstrate a high level of financial management in respect of own files.

There is a requirement to support marketing and business development activity within the team, and also to maintain and develop technical knowledge through attendance at training sessions, reading appropriate publications and exceeding Law Society CPD requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified lawyer (circa 1 - 3 PQE) with experience of criminal investigations/litigation. Applications from members of the Bar are welcome.
  • Very good relationship and client handling skills, commensurate with experience.
  • Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day to day issues.
  • Able to demonstrate a good level of self-sufficiency, combined with an awareness of the boundaries of own competence/authority.
  • Team-oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support members of the team.
  • Willingness to work hard as part of a highly ambitious and driven team to help it continue to develop and to achieve its objectives.
