LLP - Associate (5+PQE) Professional Indemnity (Knowledge Lawyer) - Leeds

Job Introduction

DACB Beachcroft’s ambitious and industry leading insurance sector team is seeking to recruit a Professional Indemnity Knowledge Lawyer (Professional Support Lawyer).  

This role would suit a 5PQE+ with experience across professional liabilities (including accountants, financial advisers, brokers, lawyers, pensions, surveyors and valuers and technology professionals), who is looking to move into a knowledge role, or an existing insurance Knowledge Lawyer/PSL looking for a challenging new opportunity.  The role would require someone working 3 – 5 days per week on a hybrid basis, to be based in the Leeds office.

You will be joining an existing team of 4 insurance knowledge lawyers based across our London and regional offices and you will play a vital role in shaping both internal and external knowledge management, with a specialist focus on thought leadership and horizon scanning in the insurance industry.

Role Responsibility

Practice

  • Provides advice and support to colleagues on technically complex issues.
  • 'Horizon watches' for case law and legislative developments which may impact cluster and clients and other clusters
  • Delivers against long and short term cluster business plans
  • Takes responsibility for product delivery and quality
  • Creates newsletters as required for specific professions and clients.
  • Provides regular updates to cluster
  • Attends L&D planning meetings and fully engages and understands needs of cluster in advance of the meeting
  • Works closely with L&D to deliver against shared objectives to deliver the right training and knowledge
  • Organises training for colleagues, where appropriate engaging with external speakers.
  • Creates and amends cluster specific know how and manages cluster precedent and guidance, where applicable. 
  • Support the delivery of the technical training programme by the hosting of technical training.
  • Reviews requests for external courses (where there is no internal course available) and requests feedback to consider whether internal content should be produced.
  • Strives for continuous improvement in the delivery of legal knowledge to colleagues and gives consideration to new and innovative ways of working.

  • Ensures the firm produces and delivers excellent solutions to client requirements. 

Marketing & BD

  • Regularly and proactively produces articles and thought leadership aligned with technical developments/'hot topics' in area of specialism.
  • Supports the development of the relevant service line nationally/internationally.

People & Team

  • Develops and maintains a strong client and colleague network within the firm.
  • Makes a significant contribution to know-how and the development of others, actively participating in and/or leading on Knowledge Management initiatives.
  • Acts as a technical coach with the team, cluster and firm.

Firm

  • Understands DAC Beachcroft is an international firm.  Works with awareness of this structure to operate as one team/brand.
  • Actively operates in the best interests of the firm at all times internally and externally.

Risk

  • Operates in a regulated environment, effectively managing risk and compliance issues including data security.
  • Works in partnership with others to manage and mitigate commercial risk.

The Ideal Candidate

  • An enthusiastic and proactive lawyer, ideally 5+ years PQE.
  • Knowledge of/ experience in Scottish law/dual qualified would be advantageous.
  • Confident in writing thought leadership, undertaking black letter law research and providing internal and external training.
  • Excellent external-facing client skills.
  • Enthusiastic about building strong internal and external relationships and working closely with our marketing and business development teams.
  • Proactive and driven, whether working alone or as part of a team.
