Junior Solicitor/ Chartered Legal Executive/ Senior Compliance Officer (AML and Financial Crime)

Job Introduction

DACB’s Practice Governance & Risk (‘PG&R’) team is currently recruiting for a junior Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Senior Compliance Officer.  The role is to provide support, assistance and advice to colleagues across our business (both UK and supporting our International offices) in respect of a range of work relating to regulatory, compliance and risk, with particular focus on anti-money laundering, sanctions, modern slavery, tax evasion and anti-bribery compliance. 

Supervision and guidance will be provided by colleagues within PG&R.

Working hours: 35 hours a week.

Although the role sits within the Leeds office, DACB now operates its Flex-Forward way of working, which means the successful candidate will agree with their line manager an appropriate split of time between office and home based working.

Role Responsibility

Duties will include (but not limited to) assisting with the following:

  • Raising anti-money laundering, sanctions, modern slavery, tax evasion and anti-bribery awareness across the business;
  • Ensuring that anti-money laundering, sanctions, modern slavery and anti-bribery compliance is implemented into all new systems, policies and procedures;
  • Horizon scanning for legislative and regulatory changes that may affect our business;
  • Taking an active part in the implementation and monitoring of compliance with training requirements;
  • Monitoring & auditing of internal business groups, processes and controls to ensure they remain appropriate and robust;
  • Advising on internal queries i.e. matters affecting DACB;
  • Responding to client and supplier due diligence questionnaires;
  • Assisting with the preparation of management information to report on compliance; and assisting the MLRO/deputy MLROs as required.  

The Ideal Candidate

  • Legally qualified (if a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive).
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role or an interest to develop their risk and compliance expertise in the above.
  • Previous experience of working in a regulated industry, such as Legal or Financial Services is desirable.
  • The role requires discussions with colleagues at all levels within our business. The ideal candidate must therefore have strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to analyse information and provide potential solutions in a concise way. 
  • Good attention to detail and strong administration is essential.
  • The ability to work under pressure and efficient time management to meet business priorities. 
  • The ability to work on own initiative and manage own workload.
  • A good team player who is supportive of other colleagues.
  • Responds positively to change and adapts easily to new processes.
  • Good IT skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office packages although further training can be given if required.
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel is required. This could involve staying away from home.
