Immigration Paralegal (London, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, or Newcastle)

Job Introduction

Our Immigration Team supports a range of clients in both the private and public sector, providing advice on immigration issues, including obtaining and maintaining a sponsor licence, sponsorship work visas and prevention of illegal working. Working alongside the employment and pensions teams, the Immigration Team has strong links to the Health, Financial Services and Tech sectors, and benefits from an interesting and varied range of work.

The Immigration Team are on the lookout for talented and highly motivated individuals who are looking to build a career in this challenging and dynamic area of law. We are primarily looking for someone to join us as a paralegal but we will consider applications from legal executives, junior lawyers or senior caseworkers who have experience of business immigration law. Applications may be considered from exceptional candidates without this experience if motivation to build a career in immigration is clearly demonstrated.  

Role Responsibility

Successful candidates will support the Immigration Team on a range of immigration matters including:

  • Managing applications for a variety of work based visas, including preparation of forms, collating evidence and filing of applications with UKVI.
  • Assisting businesses with queries relating to sponsoring overseas workers and right to work, including drafting responses setting out immigration law principles
  • Working with individuals to support them with visa applications to join family members
  • Applications for indefinite leave to remain and British Citizenship
  • Supporting businesses with advice on prevention of illegal working and right to work checks.
  • Supporting clients with sponsorship licence audits and applications
  • Assisting with file opening, retainer letters and managing visa payments
  • Participation in business development activities including drafting articles on immigration law topics and training for clients

We are open to candidates who can work from either Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle or London (where the hiring supervisor will be based).

The Ideal Candidate

  • A strong academic record
  • Experience of business immigration law (not mandatory but preferred)
  • A keen interest in continuing a career in immigration law
  • A confident and clear communicator both in writing and in person
  • A self starter who can work independently and part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage a caseload effectively
  • Ability to draft documents accurately
  • Confidence with a range of IT programmes
  • A flexible and self-motivated approach to work.
  • A desire to grow their career within DACB.
