IT Applications Specialist - Bristol

Job Introduction

We are looking for enthusiastic and innovative people with ideas to contribute and improve the service we deliver. 

Working as part of a small but supportive team the Application Support Specialist will play a key role in  supporting key applications, whilst delivering a high level of service to the business. You’ll assist with pre-release testing, implementation, deployment and documentation of applications, working closely with internal IT trainers in the use of our applications. Candidates will be working on a variety of planned and ad hoc projects, assisting with change and release management. 

Role Responsibility

  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining key applications.
  • Specialist knowledge of applications, software and operating systems
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues with bespoke applications; Solcase, Visualfiles, Filesite and many tailored applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of software installation technology and processes.
  • Testing and installation of software upgrades i.e. patches, new releases in line with change management policies and processes to scheduled delivery dates.
  • Experience in project start-up, deployment and on-going support.
  • Assisting with systems integrations.
  • Preparing maintenance plans and upgrade schedules for key applications.
  • Ability to learn independently, research products and technologies using the internet & documentation, and to problem solve as well as to assume a technical leadership role as needed.
  • Evaluating and understanding of new business initiatives, proposing software solutions leading to business collaboration from proof of concept through to implementation.
  • Ability to write detailed, complex documents for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Propose improvements based on analysis and user communications.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential skills:

  • MSSQL, Visual Basic, PowerShell
  • SCCM deployments
  • Experience in Enterprise level systems support or development
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of the business
  • Diligence and attention to detail is essential
  • Strong customer relationship skills
  • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and documentation skills
  • Team player qualities
  • Handle confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols

Desirable Skills

  • Case Management systems (Solcase \ Visualfiles)
  • Document Management System (Filesite) would also be advantageous
  • Degree in Computer related discipline
  • Experience working in a structured ITIL based service delivery framework
