Group Assistant Accountant

Role Responsibility

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts for reporting to Board and Banks
  • Preparation of various balance sheet reconciliations and validation of data, including:

- Trade Debtors & Bad Debt Provisions

- Unbilled Disbursements Provision

- Practising Certificates Analysis

- Cash & Bank, Bank Loans

- Other Provisions

  • Analytical and detailed review of overhead variance analysis against budget and prior year comparatives.
  • Assisting Finance Business Partner for Business Services in preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Supporting the production of the year-end accounts and preparation of relevant information for the external auditors
  • Preparation of the cash flow forecast, including preparing correspondence for the bank
  • Preparation of the cash management spreadsheet on a weekly basis
  • Maintenance of various intranet GL code documents used by internal stakeholders
  • Dealing with ad hoc queries from the business
  • Assisting with ad hoc tasks and projects as delegated by Senior Finance staff

The Ideal Candidate

  • Ideally Part Qualified ACCA / CIMA / ACA. Accountancy graduate or Advanced AAT student would also be considered
  • Experience of working in a finance department is preferred
  • The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and be willing to "roll their sleeves up" to understand the detail.
  • Strong skills in Excel are required
  • Able to communicate confidently orally and in writing.
  • Able to be flexible in terms of a changing environment and constantly-changing workload
  • IT literate with working knowledge of MS Windows applications. Experience of working with Elite would be a distinct advantage
  • Organised and able to handle multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter, able to work well within a team environment
