Credit & Collections Manager - Bristol (6-9 month FTC)

DACBeachcroft is looking for an experienced Credit & Collections Manager to join our Finance team on a full-time, hybrid basis in our centrally located Bristol office. 

This is a fixed-term contract for 6-9 months.

Reporting to the Director of Finance Operations, the purpose of the role is to ensure the Credit Control function operates efficiently, supporting the business in maximising cash collections through implementation of standard chase path processes appropriate to different types of debt, ensuring the Credit Control team has the correct skillset and is matched to business needs and monitoring and flexing the approach to credit control in response to differing debt profiles.

Role Responsibility

  • Point of contact for Cluster Heads and Business Service Directors for any escalations and high level cash collection / debt issues.
  • Work with the Practice Managers to establish the optimum route of query / bad practice escalations and resolutions.
  • Drive monthly cash forecasting, reporting data to the Director of Finance Operations.
  • Standardise reporting requirements; review of utilising existing technology (eg PowerBi) for the business to self-serve; stop any 'cottage industries' within the team regarding reporting.
  • Attend monthly debt reviews with the relevant business stakeholders when required.
  • Set targets, in line with the firm targets, for the Credit Control team and measure performance against targets identified.
  • Responsibility for Credit Control headcount in line with budget; assisting the Director of Finance Operations in setting staff budgets.

Transformation

  • Review the effectiveness of the Credit Control collection processes and implement change where required to increase collections across all debt bandings.
  • Contribute and lead where appropriate on debt projects.
  • Monitor existing / new technology with the potential to improve working efficiency.
  • Work with OGC to recommend and implement a new credit review process for identifying and monitoring credit risk; oversee credit risk management.

Leadership

  • Review of individual team performance, focussing on skills, knowledge, capabilities and utilisation to ensure the correct skillset is in place to support the business in effective cash collections.
  • Participate as a member in the Finance Management Team and Finance Operations Management Team.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Over five years’ experience of working in a law firm or professional services organisation
  • MCICM (Grad) or equivalent qualified
  • IT literate with good knowledge Microsoft Office products; have high levels of numeracy and analytical skills
  • Experience of credit insurance and risk
  • Significant experience of managing people, coaching, development and change management
  • Proven experience of setting strategic business plans
