Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

DACB’s Practice Governance & Risk (‘PG&R’) team is currently recruiting for a Compliance Officer to assist with supplier due diligence (before on-boarding of a supplier) and due diligence reverification (at appropriate intervals through remote or onsite audit), with a focus on risk and compliance.  Specifically, the successful candidate will work with other colleagues in PG&R to review, consider, advise and seek to resolve aspects relating to:

  • Pre-contractual and contractual matters;
  • Data protection (UK and EU GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 perspective);
  • Information security and continuity (from an ISO 27001 perspective); and
  • Professional regulatory (e.g. SRA’s Standards and Regulations 2019)
  • The successful candidate may also work on other risk and compliance projects as and when required within PG&R.

Working hours: 35 hours a week.

Although the role sits within the Leeds office, DACB now operates its Flex-Forward way of working, which means the successful candidate will agree with their line manager an appropriate split of time between office and home based working.

Role Responsibility

Main responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Engage with and follow our Procurement process;
  • Review, consider, advise and seek to resolve areas of risk and compliance (as above) arising out of the supplier due diligence or reverification process;
  • Undertake remote or onsite supplier audits as and when required by the business in line with its supplier risk rating;
  • Liaise with internal colleagues and external supplier contacts;
  • Ensure that internal systems (e.g. our Procurement portal) are updated;
  • Regularly report and keep colleagues updated;
  • Assisting with the preparation of management information to report on compliance; and
  • Make recommendations for improvements.

The Ideal Candidate

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role or an interest to develop their risk and compliance expertise in the above.
  • A degree-level would be an advantage, but is not essential. Candidates with comparable experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience of working in a regulated industry, such as Legal or Financial Services is desirable.
  • The role requires discussions with colleagues at all levels within our business, particularly Procurement and IT. The ideal candidate must therefore have strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to analyse information and provide potential solutions in a concise way.
  • Good attention to detail and strong administration is essential.
  • The ability to work under pressure and efficient time management to meet business priorities.
  • The ability to work on own initiative and manage own workload.
  • A good team player who is supportive of other colleagues.
  • Responds positively to change and adapts easily to new processes.
  • Good IT skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office packages although further training can be given if required.
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel is required. This could involve staying away from home.
