Case Administrator (Part Time) - Newcastle

Job Introduction

DAC Beachcroft is looking to appoint a Part Time Case Administrator to join our Specialist Liability team in Newcastle.

Working within the Specialist Liability team involves advising insurers, public sector and corporate clients in the defence of claims brought against them.  Specialising in complex claims, we act for a number of leading names in the insurance industry as well as large public sector organisations and household name corporates.  Increasingly the work involved is pre-litigation and involves giving detailed pre-emptive advice on relevant issues to clients.

We offer comprehensive services to the private and public sectors in the UK. We are known for our market leading presence in sectors such as insurance and health.

Role Responsibility

The main duties of this role include:

  • Preparing confidential records for disclosure
  • Sorting medical records and preparing index
  • Downloading and uploading data from secure portals
  • Managing spreadsheets – collating information and data inputting including inputting management information
  • Regularly liaising with fee earners within the team and SLT to keep them updated as to workflows
  • Maintain accurate management and client information on an ongoing basis, in line with client and location protocols
  • Handle confidential information in line with the firms data security protocols
  • Financial matters including logging disbursements and sending out invoices
  • Checking and answering financial queries
  • Making payment requests on a client’s case management system
  • Preparing bundles of records for sending to counsel and experts
  • Setting up phone hearings

Other responsibilities include:

  • To assist with the running of files to ensure deadlines are met and cases managed proactively to conclusion
  • Ensure work is carried out effectively to meet the needs of the clients and the commercial requirements of the firm to include:
    • Adherence to internal and client SLAs and KPIs
    • Achievement of ANY agreed financial targets
  • Assisting with the set-up of new files in the case management system
  • Diarising Court directions
  • Updating CRU certificates
  • Obtaining and chasing medical records,
  • Submitting payment requests
  • Chasing orders and settlement cheques
  • Other administrative duties, as required

The Ideal Candidate

  • Practical experience of file management
  • IT literate
  • Good telephone manner
  • Organised and able to prioritise and manage a constantly changing workload
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to make decisions within own areas of responsibility
  • Ability to work on own initiative without close supervision
  • A co-operative team player who is able to work effectively within a pressurised environment and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with a positive and enthusiastic approach to their work
  • Experience of using a case management preferred
  • Experience of finance systems preferred
