Business/Matter Management Analyst (12 Month FTC) - Bristol

Job Introduction

DAC Beachcroft is recruiting for a Matter Management Analyst on a 12 month fixed term contract to join our Better Matter Management project team, which is supporting cluster growth through improving matter management.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on legal matters, an understanding of the levers of law firm profitability, an interest in how legal technology can support more efficient matter delivery and great attention to detail.

Role Responsibility

Matter Management

  • Initially working with and learning from our Matter Management SME, deliver matter management methodology (behavioural change and technology solutions) into teams to improve our client service and support the firm’s growth
  • Work with teams to define their work processes
  • Document and manage the implementation of improvements into our matter management systems, liaising with Finance and the Case Management Systems Team
  • Provide training and communication to teams & their supporting administrative functions
  • Be the central point of escalation for fee earner/partner queries
  • Understand teams’ contractual engagements with clients and their implications for billing
  • Review management information to ensure that Teams are following the correct process and time recording practices.

 

Systems & Processes

  • Develop a deep understanding of the  matter management software and how it can be applied to and optimised in a range of situations and teams.
  • Be aware of how other systems and processes interact with matter management.  Work in collaboration with DACB teams responsible for those systems.
  • Work with available data to identify patterns, trends, underlying issues and support needs.

Project role

  • Work with the Legal Business Change Manager to input to the wider project aims of embedding the approach into the DACB way of doing things.
  • Help to design the policy, processes and training required to embed the approach across the firm.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a professional services environment
  • Strong communication skills – written & verbal
  • Knowledge of the matter management lifecycle including billing
  • A logical approach and desire to understand business process and the supporting applications
  • Numerate and attention to detail.  Able to analyse and draw conclusions from financial data.
  • Solutions-oriented – looks for ways through problems and able to deal with ambiguity
  • IT literate with a good command of Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build influential relationships at all levels within the firm
