Accounts Assistant - Client Cash

Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting for a number of Accounts Assistants both on a permanent and fixed term contract basis.  Our Finance team provides support to the firm in management accounting and budgeting, billing, credit control,  data management, purchase ledger and payments management as well as providing financial and commercial input to support the firm's operational and strategic decision-making processes. The finance team plays a vital role in managing risk and financial performance for the firm.

Role Responsibility

The Accounts Assistant - Cashier will work as part of a busy team and be responsible for playing a part in all transactional processes, month end reporting and maintaining SAR compliance.

A typical day will involve anything from high volume processing to liaising with partners and fee earners and resolving queries.

The Accounts Assistant – Cashier role will undertake the following key responsibilities;

  • Reconciliation of the Firms client, office and imprest bank accounts on a daily basis
  • Month End reconciliations and reporting
  • TT Payments and Receipts – Client Accounts
  • Client account cheque checking and production
  • Ensuring that the client transactions are posted in a timely manner and in accordance with Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Interest calculations
  • Client Account balance review and reconciliation reports for Fee Earners
  • Cash Management
  • Queries
  • To undertake any other ad hoc duties as required.
  • Handling confidential information in line with the firms data security protocols

The Ideal Candidate

  • Solicitors Account Rules knowledge (desirable)
  • An ability to communicate effectively and to build strong working relationships with both team members and internal clients
  • Ability to respond speedily and accurately to both internal and external customers’ demands in a confident, efficient manner.
  • IT literate
  • Flexibility with regard to hours and travel
  • You will need to be accurate and organised with a good eye for detail
  • Good level of education or equivalent work experience (looking to obtain The Institute of Legal Cashiers & Administrators Diploma qualification)
